Massive Changes to Title IX Mean Massive Changes to our Approach to Violence and Harassment! Or Do They?

Join ICUCEC and the SUNY Student Conduct Institute for a Free Webinar

May 13th, 2020
2:00 PM EST

The Department of Education’s Final Rule regarding Title IX is expected shortly and, if anything like the Proposed Regulations, it will represent a significant departure from traditional interpretations of Title IX, with new definitions and a new required process in certain reported cases. The sheer timing of the Rule, coming in the midst of a global pandemic will create myriad challenges.

At a time when our traditional methods of making policy changes on campus—committees, shared governance, Board input or approval—may require modifications, this session will tie together the priorities of those individuals directly tasked with the investigation and adjudication of sexual and interpersonal violence cases with the priorities of those tasked with the oversight of institutional finances.

The session will take into account the challenges of COVID-19 and discuss differences in violence and harassment where students are learning from a distance. They will also discuss lower cost and more efficient methods of making policy adjustments and obtaining training.
