We would like to pass along information from our meeting on last week that includes minutes, committee sign ups, resources, and virtual gathering ideas for anti-violence professionals.

Greetings,

One week ago today, The Swan Center for Advocacy & Research, Inc. convened its Pandemic Safety Planning meeting with 69 anti-violence professionals across the country about ways to best support survivors of violence, across all institutions, during this pandemic.  Guest speakers Cara Tuttle Bell of Vanderbilt University's Project Safe, Molly Marcotte and Olivia Bass of the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence led discussions on the current state of survivor advocacy in Higher Ed and state coalitions/non-profits.  When seeking opportunities to work collectively to reframe the current protocols used to reflect concerns unique to this time, it was decided that working groups, dedicated to the various institutions in which advocates and preventionists are present, would be formed to adapt our current protocols and community strategies to reflect survivor needs.  An additional committee was also proposed to support opportunities for QTPOC experts to be utilized, amplified, and compensated in efforts to engage our various communities.   We simply cannot thank folks enough for showing up, giving us a bit of your time, and for those who were unable to make it, follow up with emails of interest regarding meeting minutes, recordings, and future meeting dates.

As promised, we have created a Pandemic Safety Planning drive that holds meeting minutes, committee sign ups, resources, and ideas for virtual gatherings.  For folks interested in participating in a working group who were not in attendance, I would suggest reading the meeting minutes before delving into the other folders and feel free to reach out if you have follow-up questions.

I hope to connect with you soon with more information.

Wishing you all wellness and grace,

Wanda
