Hi Nicole,

The Clothesline Project is a popular campaign.  You may be able to work with a local domestic violence or rape crisis center to provide a display of shirts or you can do workshops to have your students create their own.  We have done Survivor Love Letters on our campus and students have appreciated the opportunity to create the "love letters" as well as seeing them displayed around campus.  I think that the travelling postcards project is similar but I'm not sure if you can then create a display out of the postcards or not. I know some schools have brought in the "What Were You Wearing" art exhibits, as well.

With all passive awareness campaigns around sexual violence, it's important to consider ways to be inclusive and trauma-informed (where will it be located on campus, how will survivors of different genders and with intersecting identities be included,  how will you incorporate support resources for survivors, etc).  I also think about how the message may reinforce harmful myths about who is victimized by sexual violence or who is to blame.  The What Were You Wearing exhibit, for example, still focuses on behaviors of survivors rather than the inappropriate behaviors of people who cause sexual harm.  I'd love to see something that shifts the focus to the behaviors of the people who have caused sexual harm.

Hope this was helpful. Good luck!

Hi All,

Looking for any suggestions you have regarding an awareness program for sexual violence similar to the Active Minds’ Send Silence Packing.  Ideally it would be through a vendor, but DIY ideas also welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Nicole
