Under general supervision of the Co- Director for Counseling and Rape Crisis Services, the Senior Rape Crisis Advocate will work with the Center for Women and Community (CWC) counseling team and provide short term peer counseling, crisis intervention, and medical and legal advocacy to survivors, non-offending family members, and significant others. This is a grant-funded position with reappointment beyond 6/30/2020 dependent on funding availability.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide short term peer counseling, crisis intervention, medical, legal and academic advocacy, safety planning, and case management for survivors.
  • Meet and communicate with other service providers about clients.
  • Provide counseling services off site at community partner agencies.
  • Organize and facilitate support and discussion groups with campus and community partners.
  • Develop and maintain outreach on behalf of the CWC Rape Crisis Services.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with range of campus and community stakeholders.
  • Provide consultation and training to partners on issues of direct service for survivors.
  • Prepare, analyze and maintain administrative and program records and statistics; participate in site visits and program reviews.
  • Participate in CWC organizational and departmental staff and clinical meetings and trainings. Assist CWC counseling staff in training and supervision of CWC volunteers.
  • Participate on relevant campus and community committees and task forces, as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (psychology, social work, human services, criminal justice, sociology, women's studies, education, anthropology) and 2 years of post-graduate experience providing rape crisis and/or domestic violence services, including individual counseling, medical and legal advocacy.
  • Completion of Rape Crisis Counselor or Domestic Violence Counselor training through recognized sexual assault or domestic violence program.
  • Demonstrated experience providing culturally responsive services for diverse cultural and linguistic populations.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, or Portuguese).
  • Driver’s license and access to car required.
