Good morning colleagues,
I decided two years ago that some of my frustration in my job as the Sexual Assault Program Manager at West Point might be alleviated if I studied why things we are doing to reduce sexual violence do not seem to be working, so I enrolled in a doctoral program in Higher Ed Leadership at Manhattanville College, here in New York. My dissertation is focused on exploring individual decision-making of students, factors that may make students more likely to apply the skills they are learning to intervene and prevent a sexual assault.
I'm doing a grounded theory study and it is time to begin recruiting participants for interviews. I am prepping for proposal defense and IRB and am wondering if there are a few folks on this list that would be willing to post a recruitment poster on their campus and also consider nominating students from a broad swath of your student population who might be willing to consider doing an video-chat interviews with me.
I am also open to suggesestions for this phase from anyone who has already traveled this dissertation journey, specifically if you've done qualitative research. I find myself alternately excited and grounded and then totally panicked about the process!
If you would be willing to assist with passive recruitment, by posting the flyer I will mail to you so you won't have to print, or more actively nominating students, please let me know. I would like to minimize unncessary or unwanted emails to the larger group. I know you all are extremely busy and greatly appreciate any time, assistance or advice you may have for me.
With appreciation,
Samantha Ross
