Hi all,

I wanted to reach out to make sure this conference is on your radar. It will be in Albany NY the week of June 18th. The registration cost is amazingly low due to some really great grant funding.

2018 SPECTRUM Conference: Preventing and Responding to Violence Against the LGBTQI+ Community

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we are pleased to open registration for the SPECTRUM conference. On behalf of our conference co-chairs, SUNY Presidents Esterberg, Laliberte, Swanger, and Terenzio, we invite you to what will be the largest higher education conference in the nation dedicated specifically to preventing and responding to sexual and interpersonal violence against members of the LGBTQI+ community (see official invitation attached). This conference is available for SUNY and non-SUNY public and private college professionals, government agency, coalition, and community organization professionals, and interested graduate students.

Jim ObergefellJane ClementiGenny BeemynThe main conference, June 19-20, will feature concurrent sessions with thought leaders in the higher education, medical, crisis response, law enforcement, and other disciplines. The conference will also feature keynote addresses by Jane Clementi, founder of the Tyler Clementi Foundation; Dr. Genny Beemyn, Director of the Stonewall Center; Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage; and many high-level government and higher education leaders. We expect to announce additional exciting speakers in the coming weeks.

June 18 and June 21 will feature pre- and post- conference deep-dive training from Bringing in the Bystander, 20:1, the One Love Foundation, Culture of Respect/NASPA, the University of Rochester Clinical Education Initiative, Mt. Sinai Hospital, the Clery Center, and others (including our very popular session on stretching your prevention and health marketing budget).

With the support of the State University of New York, our partners and sponsors, we are able to offer registration to SPECTRUM for the subsidized price of $125 per person for the two-day conference. Pre-conference and post-conference registration costs are a further discounted $50 per person per day. The University has a commitment to making the training accessible, and we are grateful to our partners who have helped us reduce the cost to one of the lowest costs for a full-service conference in the nation. Registration includes all content, continental breakfast, full plated lunch with vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and other options, morning and afternoon snacks, access to additional digital and live table content, and materials. Further, we have been able to slightly reduce the costs of parking to $5 per day. We have reserved a limited number of hotel rooms at the discounted conference rate, and conference registration costs go up May 16, 2018 and close June 4, 2018 (if not sold out earlier).
