Mark your calendars! April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and this year’s campaign theme is “Embrace Your Voice.”

 

Our words shape the world around us. How we talk about sexual violence matters. When we reflect on and change how we think and talk about the issues of sexual violence and consent, we can create a culture of respect, equality, and safety.

 

 

Here’s how you can engage in SAAM throughout April:

 

·        Join the thousands of survivors, advocates, and allies across the country who will be wearing teal on Tuesday, April 3rd, the SAAM Day of Action. Everyone has a role to play in ending sexual violence, and showing your support for survivors by wearing teal is one way you can embrace your voice for change.

 

·        Host a SAAM event in your community, campus, or workplace. Want some simple but powerful ideas on how to get started? Check out these blogs for ideas!

·        Participate in the SAAM Thunderclap on the Day of Action. A thunderclap is a single social media post that is mass-shared, flash mob-style. Help bring visibility to the campaign by sharing this post on your Twitter or Facebook page.

 

·        Get creative with your activism and win cool prizes by participating in the #30DaysofSAAM Instagram Contest. Learn everything you need to know about the contest including how to enter, the prizes, and tips for creating engaging posts.

 

·        Make your own origami teal ribbon! Check out our tutorial video to learn how!

 

·        Print your own SAAM posters, coloring pages, and learn more about the 2018 campaign at www.nsvrc.org/saam
