|
As a part of the University of Wyoming’s ongoing commitment to creating and maintaining a campus environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment, including all forms of sexual harassment and violence, the University seeks to fill the position
of Sexual Misconduct Investigator (SMI). The Sexual Misconduct Investigator will play an important role in the University’s coordinated response, prevention and education initiatives pursuant to sexual misconduct, Title IX and related statutes and regulations.
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the SMI is responsible for the University’s sexual misconduct investigations with a particular emphasis on investigating reports of sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking and intimate partner violence between students,
and biased motivated incidents. The SMI will conduct a prompt, thorough and impartial investigation, which includes identifying and interviewing witnesses, gathering and securing relevant documentation, and analyzing the evidence gathered. They will work with
all parties involved.
This position will perform other duties as assigned by the AVP-DOS.

Essential Duties
|
|
• Investigate allegations related to sexual misconduct and/or biased motivated incidents against students from report receipt to findings. This includes creating an investigative plan, conducting and recording witness interviews, making credibility assessments,
preparing and presenting memoranda of findings and appropriate supporting documents, and communicating with the parties’ while protecting the impartiality, integrity and privacy of the investigation.
* Look into situations and investigate biased motivated incidents that occur on our campus, stop, prevent, remedy.
*Works closely with Assistant Dean of Students for general conduct concerns.
• Assist in development and review of University-wide policies and procedures that further institutional civil rights under Title IX.
• Provide ongoing updates regarding the status of complaints and investigations to the Associate VP/Dean of Students (AVP-DOS) and Title IX Coordinator and appropriate University employees assisting with the University’s response to Title IX matters.
• Responsible for effective collaboration and communication with key stakeholders and partners.
* Provide information to students, employees and others regarding the Student Code of Conduct and University policies related to discrimination and harassment.
• Provide testimony, as needed, to conclude University proceedings related to federal complaints.
• Work closely with both the AVP-DOS and Title IX Coordinator to review and synthesize allegations to determine applicable interim measures.
• Report to AVP-DOS regarding sexual misconduct matters. Participate in subcommittee groups as assigned by AVP-DOS. Represent DOS at University collaborations related to sexual misconduct.
• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of statistical, demographic and subject matter data related to sexual misconduct complaints and trends. This includes being responsible for keeping thorough, accurate and comprehensive records related to all
assigned case investigations.
• Assist with providing annual Clery stats to UW Police Department.
• Assess reports for Clery timely warnings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the AVP-DOS.

Minimum Qualifications
|
|
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (higher education administration, student affairs, criminal justice, social work, counseling) and two years of related experience.

* Strong work ethic and attention to details
* Ability to relate to people in difficult moments
* Ability to use Microsoft Office
* Prior working knowledge of Code of Conduct
* Ability to Communicate effectively
* Ability to work under deadlines
ATIXA Investigator Certification or ability to obtain.

Desired Qualifications
|
|
Master’s or professional degree in an appropriate area of specialization higher education administration, student affairs, criminal justice, social work, counseling, or a JD.
Three (3) to five (5) years of civil rights-related or sexual/relationship violence investigative in the education, employment, and/or criminal justice experience.
Experience working on issues of sexual misconduct, and/or bias motivated incidents with college-age population. Experience working with and/or within institutions of higher education.
Completion of sexual violence prevention and/or response training through a nationally recognized organization.
Demonstrated ability to independently and efficiently manage a caseload, and the ability to prioritize.
Highly motivated, self-directed execution of routine and special projects. Strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to function well in both leader and teammate roles and interact with colleagues and superiors in a positive and constructive manner when faced with significant deadlines or workloads.
Experience in and awareness of the sensitivity required when interacting with, supervising, and addressing the needs of a diverse community on sensitive topics.
Experience in trauma informed investigations and interviewing skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in professional setting.
Experience working with Maxient.
