Minnesota's Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday, August 16 as "Break the Silence Day" statewide. Break the Silence Day invites victim/survivors of sexual violence to publicly say their names and tell their stories as an act of resistance against the current rape culture that invalidates, blames, and shames survivors.

-Some things to consider before breaking the silence

You'll also find an album of survivors in Minnesota breaking their silence on Wednesday on the Break the Silence Day facebook page. Anyone is invited to post on social media this Wednesday using #BreaktheSilenceDay

Please feel free to share Minnesota's proclamation (attached). It would be amazing to see more states issue a similar proclamation in August 2018.
