To become a peer educator at Colorado State University students have to first
complete a 3 credit hour course titled "Understanding Rape Supportive Culture
in a US context". After completion of the course, students can apply to
become a paid peer educator. There is an application process, including an
interview.

To become a hotline volunteer, students must go through a 45 hour training
(can take for an optional 3 credit hours). At the end of which is an exit
interview to decide if they are reading and still interested in volunteering.

Good luck with your review.

Subject: Peer Education/Student Volunteer Program

Hi colleagues!

I am looking to gather information on student volunteer programs or groups
that provide education, training, or advocacy. (In some schools, they might
be referred to as Peer Educators or Advocates.) Specifically, the selection
process that is used for said volunteer groups. If you have a robust, or
flourishing student volunteer program, would you be open to speaking with me
about how you all do selection?

We are looking to strengthen the selection part of our volunteer programming,
and in considering alternatives, I wanted to see what has been effective for
colleagues at other institutions.

Any information you could share would be great!

Regards,

Abdul
