Hello all,

Tulane used the ARC3 survey this winter; we gave the full survey to all full time undergraduate and graduate students (approximately 10,000) and had a 47% overall completion rate and a 53% completion rate for undergraduates. We’re currently sorting through the data now—it’s a mammoth amount of information!

I’m a part of the ARC3 group, but Tulane had tentatively chosen the survey prior to my hire. The reasons why we went with it were: 1) It has rigorous scientific foundations, so we could trust the data; 2) It was free, which allowed us to push our budget into incentives for the survey; 3) It had questions on perpetration, which was essential for us to be able to create comprehensive prevention programming. We also liked that it asked questions about sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, and IPV.

The ARC3 group is discussing data pooling, since there are so many of us who’d like to compare; I’ll let Kevin Swartout at Georgia State who has been the point person on the survey and exploring this exact issue know that this interest is really rising up—and would schools at least be willing to identify themselves so we can talk to each other, etc. I’ll forward this along to him and the group.

If there are any other questions I can answer about the ARC3 or about our survey process, please let me know!

Take care,
Meredith

Subject: ARC3 Climate Survey Comparison Data

Hello all,

We (Western Michigan University) are considering using the ARC3 survey on our campus but they do not provide comparison data across institutions. Have any of you used this survey or are currently using this survey? Are any institutions willing to release their data for comparisons across institutions?
