I am delighted to share with colleagues that UC Santa Barbara is Hiring for our Assistant Director of Advocacy Services to join our CARE Office.  This position will join a growing and incredible team comprised of three full-time CARE Advocates, one full-time Assistant Director of Prevention Education, one part-time Prevention Education Coordinator, and myself as Director.  Please feel free to share this posting widely in hopes that we can recruit best addition to our team!

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ADVOCACY SERVICES OF CAMPUS ADVOCACY, RESOURCES, EDUCATION (CARE) 

WOMEN, GENDER AND SEXUAL EQUITY DEPARTMENT

 

The Assistant Director of Advocacy Services works closely with the CARE Director to determine programmatic needs and maintain advocacy operations while assisting CARE Advocate staff and providing programmatic management for the department's crisis response services to interpersonal violence. Has significant responsibility for creating and implementing training on issues of interpersonal violence and advocacy support services offered by the department for faculty, staff and community members. Trains and assists with program management. Provides immediate advocacy and crisis intervention to survivors seeking services and maintains active role in evening and weekend response procedures with CARE Director.  Maintains programmatic decision making authority in CARE Director's absence.

 

Reqs: State certification as a sexual assault crisis counselor. State certification as a domestic violence advocate. Possess specialized expertise and knowledge of the effects of sexual violence on survivors, survivor recovery, medical and legal procedures. Demonstrated experience providing advocacy support to survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence and stalking. Experience providing education on topics such as sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking, and intersecting oppression. Sensitivity to cultural, racial, ethnic, and sexual diversity. Ability to work as a part of a team and build partnerships. Commitment to activism for social justice. Notes: Fingerprint background check required. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends. Maintain a valid CA driver's license, a clean DMV record and enrollment in the DMV Employee Pull-Notice Program. $51,181-$61,449/yr.
