I have been asked to review what other campuses do for one-time programs in the way of assessment, such as a presentation or other event in a residence hall, at a fraternity etc.   Do you do a paper or online evaluation?  Do you do a follow-up assessment in a few weeks, or sometime after the program?

Is it the same assessment for larger presentations, etc. ?

Thanks for your time & yes I will share what I earn

Belatedly including responses to my request for Marijuana Programming:

One of the things we do to attract student attention is offer a Blow Bubbles Not Smoke Campaign especially around 4/20.  We set up a table in a busy area of campus and pass out bubbles as well as have the big bubble blowers and other things students can stop and play with. We then encourage students to take the CUDIT-R as well as offer info and treatment resources on marijuana and tobacco.  We have also done it in the res halls

While this may not be what you are looking for, Students for Sensible Drug Policy has introduced a Peer to Peer based educational programming called “Just Say Know”. Here is the link for the information about the program:http://ssdp.org/campaigns/peer-education-program/

Hi ya Susan,  I just started presenting a major revamp of our Marijuana Diversion classes last week with a focus on building student empathy, relationship, critical thinking, and self-regulation skills.  Like the Buzz program that I do for alcohol education presentations, this new diversion class has similar experiential learning and facilitated dialogues that the students seem to be very receptive of.  If the success continues I will attempt to do a similar prevention/harm reduction presentation on marijuana like I did for alcohol with, The Buzz.

Since this has just started I don't have any data to share yet.  But my past experience with the Buzz and seeing even our marijuana sanctioned students responding so well to the class content and process is promising.   So, stay in the loop and stay tuned.

BTW, here is a link to our new Buzz video that I just got this morning that I thought you'd might like to see.

It was created by our students and I am impressed with the quality of their work and talents.

Thank you for often initiating dialogue and disseminating information on the list-serve.

Be well.  Sincerely, Spencer
