My alma mater, UC Irvine, has a really beautiful awareness project:

"The Clothesline Project is a participatory exhibit and a visual display designed to break the silence surrounding violence against women and to illustrate the impact of violence.

The exhibit is comprised of t-shirts designed by survivors of violence and by their families and friends who have been impacted by the violence perpetrated against their loved ones. Participants walk through the rows of T-shirts on clotheslines to bear witness to these tragedies. The project focuses on providing healing for survivors of violence, educating the public about violence, and preventing violence."

Hi!  We host a series of events throughout the entire week, which usually looks something like this:

Monday: Survivor healing event (this year we are doing narrative storytelling, but in the past we have hosted art nights and journal making events)
Tuesday:  In the past we have shown movies with discussions, hosted a topic based workshop, or done bystander intervention programs on this day
Wednesday: community building and sign making event
Thursday:  TBTN march, rally and speak out
Friday:  Recap of the week, self care and overview of Title IX reporting options and supports on campus and off-campus

I should also note that my school hosts this week of events for all of the nearby colleges (we have 6 different schools bordering our College), so we get a fairly large turn out.

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone,

Fresh off the momentum of Saturday's marches, I am looking to gather information on possible ways/ideas to celebrate Take Back the Night, for a student group that I am helping advise. Traditionally, our student group has celebrated Take Back the Night with an opening rally, march, and then a speak-out. However, the student group is looking to include another activity instead of the physical march, so I wanted to see what successful options or activities have worked for your campuses and communities, and if they could work here. I've referenced the takebackthenight.org site...but it appears the link to their manual is not working.

Any ideas you have - specifically, for an urban campus - would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Abdul
