This position will assist in Women’s Center programs and initiatives through education, advocacy, and campus and community partnerships. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating
services and programs through Survivor Advocacy Services.
- Assisting
victims in ways that are culturally competent and sensitive to race, gender, culture, religion, ability, and sexual orientation.
- Serving
as the primary advocate for student, faculty and staff affected by power-based violence.
- Supporting
and training campus partners on appropriate and culturally competent responses to sexual misconduct.
- Providing
on-call response, crisis intervention, ongoing case management, and resource referral as needed.
- Collaborating
with the Title IX Director and various offices to insure services for faculty, staff and students; developing and implementing education initiatives and awareness events required under Title IX and the Campus SaVE Act to improve the climate regarding power-based
violence.
- Working
in conjunction with university administration, in particular the Title IX Director and Office of the Dean of Students, to implement policy and serve victims/survivors of violence.
- Initiating
community partnerships with external groups to include the Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults, Chattanooga Police Department, the TN Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and other community agencies/groups.
- Serving
on the campus Sexual Assault Response Team and making decisions regarding case updates and management.
- Managing
day-to-day operations of the office.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Counseling or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred. Must have experience providing advocacy,
programming, and training; experience providing advocacy, programming, and training in higher education preferred. Must have experience providing direct services to victims of sexual assault, stalking, domestic/dating violence, sexual harassment, and
other forms of power-based violence. Must have experience providing programs and training regarding power-based violence. Must have experience in providing effective crisis intervention. Must have knowledge of theory and research related to power-based violence
and social justice and knowledge of legislation affecting power-based violence on campuses (Title IX, Campus SaVE Act, etc.) Must have the ability to conduct training, plant events, organize and deliver support services; ability to supervise employees; ability
to reach underserved populations (people of color, LGBTQ+ students, students with disabilities, and non-traditional students); ability to intervene appropriately in crisis situations; ability to work after hours including on-call.
