Hi Sarah:

Here in California we have quite a few models we are working from.  There are co-located services where an advocate is a rape crisis center employee and provides services on-campus (has a designated space),  also partnerships where direct services are provided off-campus at the crisis center, and then a hybrid model where a RCC advocate is providing service both on and off-campus at the preference of the survivor.  We recently hosted a Campus Track at the CALCASA Statewide conference and would love to talk with you more about how this is working.

We also have a comprehensive guideline document featuring several real-life examples of partnerships, website language and MOU development strategies with RCCs

"Student Safety, Justice, and Support: Policy guidelines for California campuses addressing sexual assault, dating/domestic violence and stalking": Can download at:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2SH787T

Let me know how else I can help!

Emily

Hello Colleagues,

I am seeking information on successful approaches when partnering with off-campus service providers for advocacy services for students.

Our campus is in the process of transitioning away from a model of having 1 campus employee serving in a 24/7 on-call capacity for student survivors of sexual assault, dating abuse, domestic violence and stalking.  Our new approach will be to collaborate with a well-respected local agency which provides comprehensive confidential advocacy services for survivors and is located within 5 minutes of campus – this agency will now respond to any incoming calls after hours and on weekends and holiday breaks. We will still have an on campus Victim Advocate available for students as well during normal business hours (but this advocate will have reporting obligations through Clery).

If your campus partners w/a local service provider in a similar way I would love to connect over the phone for a few minutes to chat about what your experience with this model.  Or, please feel free to share your thoughts directly w/me via email at .

Specifically I’m interested in learning:

-How this partnership is described in your website/marketing materials for students

-What type of language is included in an MOU between your university and the agency

-What type of training was essential for this partnership to run smoothly for all parties

-What efforts are in place to keep this partnership running smoothly for all parties

-How have survivors been impacted by this partnership

Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom, I’m grateful for this list-serv. It has been a phenomenal resource for me!

Kindly,

Sarah
