Hi Everyone, ~apologies for cross-postings, but we want to get the word out about this conference!~ As previously advertised, Indiana University is putting on a conference focusing on sexual violence prevention for commuter, non-residential, and regional campuses. The conference is on
August 11th. We are pleased to announce that we have established a diverse group of fantastic speakers to present at this conference. Our keynote speaker will be Professor Jennifer Drobac; her address is titled
"Consent on College Campuses: Neuroscience, Culture, and Prevention." You can learn about all of our presenters
here, and read the session descriptions
here. I hope to post up the conference schedule by next week; this event will be a one-day conference that runs 9 am – 5 pm. In addition to networking opportunities with people from around the country, this conference will provide you with training and education on the following topics: ·
Building collaborations between academic units and Student Affairs ·
Designing online prevention modules to meet the needs of diverse students ·
Organizing community agencies and allies to work with campuses ·
Using readers’ theater for sexual violence prevention and community engagement ·
Developing logic model frameworks for setting administrative goals and strategic plans ·
Using non-traditional theater to engage commuter students and marginalized students ·
Creating a holistic model for a campus-wide task force Please note: the same week as our conference, Indianapolis is hosting the International Drum Corps. While of course this is exciting news to drum corps enthusiasts, it also means that Indy hotel rooms are filling up fast. So, even if you
aren’t quite sure if you’d like to attend the conference yet, I highly recommend that you reserve a hotel room ASAP. You can find lodging info
here. Conference registration will close on August 1st, and no on-site registration will be available, so please be sure to register by the deadline. Register
here. Sincerely, Mahri Mahri Irvine, PhD IU Statewide Sexual Assault Education and Prevention Specialist Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis Walker Plaza 220 719 Indiana Avenue Indianapolis, IN 46202 317-274-2501 (office) 317-278-0948 (fax) Check out our upcoming
