Dear all,

I just wanted to let you know about a project we are launching in the UK called Changing University Cultures (CHUCL). This came out of research at Imperial College London, looking at their institutional culture and its impact on equality and diversity issues. We have developed an innovative model of Grounded Action Inquiry which incorporates an analysis of institutional culture and an inclusive, dialogic process of developing cultural change. The debate about bullying, harassment and violence in the UK has thus far been very much focused on having the appropriate policies and procedures - of course, these are vital, but we believe that cultural change is also necessary to tackle the root causes of the problems. 

We are making our methodology and tools available for free via our website at https://chuclblog.wordpress.com/ - they are still under development at the moment, but people can sign up to our mailing list via the website for updates. Our process can be run at departmental, faculty and whole-institution level and our research at Imperial College is going amazingly well, so we are hopeful that it will be of value to other universities.
