Good Morning!

Half the Sky is also a great film- it's a bit longer, but is a documentary of several individual's lives across the world. It touches on rape, sex trafficking, etc. I would definitely recommend it.

The website also offers a screening guide, which I think you'll find helpful.

I definitely recommend My Masculinity Helps! I have shown it in several of my classes. It is really well done, features men of color in a positive light, serves as a great introductory-level film to teach viewers about the impact of SV and how people can help survivors, AND it is short! For people who have a very limited amount of time for a program/event, this film is a great resource.

MY MASCULINITY HELPS!

It's available for free by contacting the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault
http://www.nccasa.org/

MY MASCULINITY HELPS explores the role of African American men and boys in the prevention of sexual violence.  It shows African American male allies (psychologist, professor, peer educator, attorney, pastor, athlete, middle and high school students, activist) demonstrating understanding and support for survivors of sexual violence.  Strategies for assistance and prevention are provided.  Survivors also share their stories and what has helped them.  The film serves as a counter-narrative to often inaccurate and misleading portrayals of African American masculinity.  Our goal is to engage boys and men in the deconstruction of gender roles, masculinity, and power and in the prevention of sexual violence.  It can be used in schools, colleges, and athletic, professional, community, and faith-based organizations.

This project received partial funding from the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.

Hi all,

The students planning Take Back the Night at Goucher this year would like to have a space near but separate from the main event to loop several short films pertaining to sexual violence and IPV. We are particularly interested in films that share a global perspective, and/or that address intersections between IPV/sexual violence and race, gender, and sexual orientation.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
