Assistant Director, Women’s Center - 16000000CG 

Description

 This position assists the Women’s Center Director in supporting and nurturing women on campus through programming, services, and coalition building. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for developing and implementing Women’s Center programming and coordinating education efforts on campus dealing with women’s issues including: gender-based violence, women’s health and wellness, diversity, women’s leadership, and other gender equity related programming. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Director in developing a community of students, faculty, and staff to support the initiative and mission of the Women’s Center.
  • Assisting the Director in creating campus initiatives to raise awareness about gender-based violence and implementing these initiatives.
  • Assisting the Director in creating community partnerships to better serve the campus and Chattanooga community.
  • Overseeing the Women’s Center and its operations in the absence of the Director.
  • Providing victim advocacy including on-call duties.
  • Coordinating and implementing educational programs with the input and advice of the director.
  • Supervising and developing the students on the Women’s Center leadership board, WISE.
  • Assisting the Director in creating and implementing initiatives related to gender equity including education and awareness regarding LBGTQ+ issues and masculinity.
  • Providing assistance with Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, and Stalking (SMRVS) Committee’s education and promotion efforts in accordance with Title IX and Campus SaVE Act.
  • Assisting in providing information, confidential advocacy, referral and other direct services to Women’s Center clientele.
  • Maintaining the Women’s Center listserv, Facebook group, website, and other technical responsibilities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

 
Bachelor’s degree required in Women’s Studies, Student Affairs, Higher Education or closely related field; Master’s degree preferred. One to three years’ work related experience is required. Must be able to complete projects on time and on budget. Must have demonstrated ability in creating and implementing educational programs and events. Must have ability to understand and explain issues relating to gender, feminism, power-based violence, sexual orientation, gender identity, and diversity. Must have computer skills with experience in word processing spreadsheets, and presentation software; web design skills preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work varied hours based on the night and weekend programs and on-call duties.
