Good morning,

Grand Valley State University has undergraduate research grants available to students. One student, Kelsey May, was awarded funds this last year to develop a poetry series. She has finished her research project and has sought my help in spreading her message, potentially, to other campuses. Here is a message from her:

The V-Card Series involves developing a series of poems sharing differing perspectives, emotions, stories, and hope for victims of sexual assault, as well as violators. Why is this series needed? One in every five women will be a victim of sexual assault or rape in her lifetime. This problem is not going away unless we act. My name is Kelsey May, and I'm an undergraduate student at Grand Valley State University, where I have developed the V-Card Series: twelve poems that address, discuss, advocate on behalf of, and portray the stories of twelve individuals impacted by sexual assault and domestic violence. To find out more about how I can partner with your school, please email me at

Kelsey May was featured at Grand Valley State University’s annual event Rock Against Rape and will be the performer at our annual Celebrating Women Awards in March. She is a member of our peer education student organization, Eyes Wide Open, and was supervised by the Office of Undergraduate Research in the development of her poetry series.

Things Kelsey might be able to perform at on your campus:

-          It’s On Us  events

-          Sexual Assault Awareness events

-          Domestic Violence Awareness events

-          Take Back the Night/Rock Against Rape/ Student Activist events

Please reach out to Kelsey for more information.

Very truly,

Ashley
