Hi SAPC Folks,

I very much appreciate having SAPC as a resource where I can learn from my colleagues, both by reading people’s posts and using the list to ask questions. I’d like to send a gentle reminder that we should be careful to not include details about specific cases that could identify the students involved.

If a reader knows what educational institution you work at, and you refer to an unnamed student’s association with a specific program, especially one with very few participants, it is not difficult to narrow down the person to one or two students. If such a post identified a survivor, it could unintentionally violate confidentiality and cause considerable harm. In the case of a student found responsible or a survivor, it could result in an inadvertent violation of a student’s FERPA rights.

Best,
