Good afternoon, My office on campus has just really begun to figure out the service provision piece of supporting survivors on campus, as the office has transitioned to intensive advocacy services in the past academic year.
1.
Screening out potential perpetrators – I worry about having students complete a form or to rely on others’ categorization of victim/perpetrator, but I am not protected by any state statutes for advocates. I know how I was trained to
make these determinations but want to see how folks write it out in a policy. 2.
How long students are entitled to receive services; our criminal justice process takes so long I am concerned that if their eligibility ended at graduation, they could not receive adequate services. I hate the idea that just because
an assault happened freshman year vs. senior year, the service delivery would differ. I’m housed in the counseling center and they only provide bridge services to referrals post-graduation.
I know how I would like to draft these policies, but it always helps to have other Universities’ backing in undertaking these efforts.
I also know how many of you have been providing fantastic services on campus for some time and appreciate your insight and experience. Thanks, Lindsey Lindsey Bartlett Mosvick
