Hello all – I wanted to reach out to anyone who is part of their campuses conversation about Timely Warnings. There is a group on campus that is discussing how we report location for the timely warnings.
For the location, there are some on our campus that would like to just report the area (such as, “an academic building”), to make sure there is no way a survivor could be identified based on the timely warning information.
Others on campus would like to be a bit more specific and state the building (no room number or floor number) where the incident occurred (such as, “Smith Hall”) or the building the incident occurred next to (if something occurred outside) in reporting the building believe being slightly more specific we can provide further safety to the campus community. Each side believes that the survivors identity would be kept private in both scenarios.
So how have others seen timely warnings reported? Are there other things that need to be considered when reporting location?
