Dear SAPC & WRAC-L Colleagues, With apologies for this partial repeat to those of you who I have already notified individually, I am writing to announce that last week I joined NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education as Associate Vice President for Equity,
Inclusion & Violence Prevention. In this newly-created post, I will act as a subject matter expert on equality and civil rights in education, with a focus on preventing and responding to gender-based and other forms of discriminatory violence on college campuses.
NASPA’s press release can be found at:
http://www.naspa.org/images/uploads/main/NASPA_Press_Release_-_Nancy_Chi_Cantalupo_joins_NASPA_-_final.pdf, and my new contact information is below, although this email address will continue to work (and is the email that is subscribed to these listservs,
so future listserv messages will come from this address, at least for now). This new position will allow me to continue my research and policy work, which I hope also to use in fostering collaboration between the victim rights and higher education communities,
as well as to provide training resources to NASPA’s over 13,000 Student Affairs professionals. One of my goals is to create a larger number of relevant professional development programs for the members of these listservs. In fact, I am hoping to convince many of you to deliver such programs as well as to attend them, both for information-sharing
among colleagues in this field, and to provide a platform for your expertise to be highlighted with other important higher ed colleagues. My first opportunity to do this will be at NASPA’s Violence Prevention conference, about which Ann Quinn-Zobeck emailed
the SAPC listserv last month. The deadline for proposals is next Friday, Sept 26, so I thought I would send an updated version of Ann’s message (see below) as a reminder (for those who have already seen it) or as an invitation (for those who have not). I
very much hope that you will consider submitting a proposal and/or attending the conference, and both Ann and I are happy to answer any questions about the CFP or the conference itself. I have no doubt that you are all already extremely busy, so thank you for reading this message, if indeed you got this far, and again, please see below for the link to the CFP.
