- Subject: Student Conduct charges for emotional/psychological abuse?
- Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2014 15:37:42 -0400
Hey folks -
I asked this a couple of weeks ago and didn't get much of a response (though thank you again to those of you who did answer!). I'm trying one more time just in case it wasn't answered due to too many other listserv questions!! Thanks for considering a response - even a quick one would be super helpful! For those of you who include emotional and psychological abuse in your campus code of conduct definition under dating/relationship violence/IPV, can you share how/if a student can be charged with this (as oposed to physical assault)? I'm working with a group of folks on a model DV campus policy and while we have included these types of abuse in the definition, it has occurred to us that the sanctioning/charge piece of it is a bit tricky. We understand that emotional and psychological abuse can be harassment and/or stalking, however for the incidents in which abusive language does not meet this level, how do your student conduct offices respond?
