Northwestern University invites applications and nominations for the position of Coordinator of Sexual Violence Response Services and Advocacy. This position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to join an energetic and growing team in the Center for Awareness, Response and Education, a unit of Health Promotion and Wellness. CARE and HPaW are organizationally and physically located within the AAAHC-accredited Northwestern University Health Service, which is part of the Division of Student Affairs.



We are seeking a dynamic team player with a record of accomplishment and who values excellence and student success. Focusing on evidence-based and innovative strategies, the successful candidate will work collaboratively in establishing and maintaining high standards for sexual violence response and advocacy practice within parameters set by relevant professional groups, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies.
Knowledge of and experience with sexual violence response and survivor advocacy is essential, as well as a commitment to social justice, student success and development, and experience working with diverse populations. Knowledge of current requirements for sexual violence prevention and response in higher education under Title IX, the Campus SaVE Act, the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, and other relevant mandates is vital.

This position has primary responsibility for providing survivor-centered, confidential services to students who are survivors of sexual violence, including support, advocacy, referrals, and information pertaining to options and resources both on and off Northwestern’s campus. This position also advises the student group, Students Promoting Education, Awareness and Knowledge (SPEAK) for Change; co-leads the Campus Coalition on Sexual Violence and serves on the Title IX Coordinating Committee and the Sexual Misconduct Response Team. This position works with various departments and organizations to:

·         support faculty, staff and student trainings on sexual violence response and prevention
·         ensure all services comply with state and federal law and grant the maximum confidentiality protections possible
·         increase social justice on campus
·         maintain relationships with existing on-call services at Northwestern
·         to provide consultation to faculty, staff and students who are assisting students with concerns related to sexual violence. 

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for this full-time, 12 month position, which will be funded by a Department of Justice-Office on Violence against Women grant through September 30, 2014 and then permanently funded by Northwestern University after the expiration of the grant.  Applicants must have a master's degree in social work, public health, health promotion, or closely related field plus a minimum of five to six years of current, relevant experience in sexual violence advocacy and response, college health promotion, etc.  An LCSW with relevant professional experience in a higher education setting is highly desirable.
