We are passing along this information from RAINN who sent this to the state sexual assault coalitions. The website specifies that this is “Information for students, schools, and anyone interested in finding resources on how to respond to and prevent sexual assault on college and university campuses and in our schools.” They said it would be great for any campuses to apply to be listed as affiliates if your campus has a 24 hour crisis line. Given that the Not Alone web site is a resource for student survivors, it would be great for campus advocacy offices to be listed as providers. Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence.

As you know, last Tuesday, the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault publicly released their recommendations. With their recommendations comes the promotion of the new website NotAlone.gov. On this site, you will find a service locator where people can find sexual assault service providers in their community based on their zip code. The information for this locator is supplied by RAINN and includes the affiliate information we have listed at centers.rainn.org. While this is an exhaustive list of the National Sexual Assault Hotline Affiliates, it does not include all local services offered in every community.  

 

In an effort to ensure organizations who provide direct services to survivors of sexual violence are listed, we are reaching out to the State Coalitions for support. We are hoping you can assist us by letting interested organizations know how to become listed. Below is information that you are welcome to disseminate as needed.    

 

How to Become a Listed Organization 

There are two ways that we partner with agencies and list their information on the rainn.org website as a resource for individuals seeking sexual assault services in their community. Agencies can apply to be either a National Sexual Assault Hotline Affiliate or a Referral Organization. Below are descriptions of each type of partnership and the associated applications.

 

National Sexual Assault Hotline Affiliates:
Local sexual assault service providers (including dual DV/SA programs) that provide 24/7 crisis support via their telephone hotline. National Sexual Assault Hotline calls are routed to these affiliates based on the callers' physical location. Additionally they are listed on the RAINN website (centers.rainn.org) as an  Affiliate. RAINN also provides free online training and other services to hotline affiliates. Referral Organizations:
Referral organizations are direct service providers that support sexual assault survivors/victims in their local community. They may or may not have a hotline. They may not provide services 24/7, but they do provide direct services during regular business hours, Monday-Friday. They are listed on the RAINN website (centers.rainn.org) as a referral organization. To become a referral organization, please download the application here.
