hello, Colleagues!
i wanted to reach out to you all and ask for clarification on an issue related to a university's Title IX responsibilities.
if i am providing confidential clinical services to a client who has been the victim of gender violence by another current student
but that student chooses NOT to formally report the assault/abuse to campus authorities, what is a university's obligation to provide academic relief to the victim/survivor? (obviously, to gain academic relief, the student would have to tell his/her
Dean and/or professors they have been affected by GV and are seeking counseling services. in these cases, no formal report is made by staff or faculty because no perpetrator is named and the student is already receiving clinical support/being informed of Title
IX rights, etc.)
i have been searching for more information on this. all i can find are the two blurbs below, from the Dear Colleague Letter. can anyone provide clarification or ideas for further reading?
thank you!

"The school should notify the complainant of his or her options to avoid contact with the alleged perpetrator and allow students to change academic or living situations as appropriate."
-AND-
"Depending on the specific nature of the problem, remedies for the complainant might include, but are not limited to:
• providing an escort to ensure that the complainant can move safely between classes and activities;
• ensuring that the complainant and alleged perpetrator do not attend the same classes;.....
• providing academic support services, such as tutoring;
- arranging for the complainant to re-take a course or withdraw from a class without penalty, including ensuring that any changes do not adversely affect the complainant’s academic record;
