At a recent presentation on Campus SaVE, there were a few questions that I was not able to answer with 100% confidence. Any help is appreciated: SEE BELOW.
- In
regards to programming, what is the definition of “student?” Does this include individuals who are taking only online courses? (I am guessing YES) I WOULD GUESS YES, AS WELL, ROBERTA, BUT UNTIL WE HAVE REGS, IT'S UNCLEAR.
- When
we are dealing with PSEO students (those under 18), are there any additional elements we need to be aware of? Does any communication need to be distributed to parents of minors? SINCE WE ARE REQUIRED TO SHARE THE STATE DEFINITION OF CONSENT, WHICH INVOLVES
MINORS, THEY SHOULD BE COVERED BY THIS PROVISION. NOTHING ELSE RELATES SPECIFICALLY TO MINORS IN THE SAVE ACT. PROSPECTIVE AND INCOMING STUDENTS MUST GET A COPY OF THE ASR, WHICH WILL COVER APPLYING AND INCOMING MINORS AND THUS THEIR PARENTS.
- In
regards to programming for new students and new employees, is there any proof of attendance that need to be kept by the college? NOTHING EXPLICIT IN THE ACT, PERHAPS THE REGS WILL ADDRESS. OUR POSITION IS THAT IF DOEd AUDITS, CAMPUSES WILL NEED TO PROVE
THEY MET THE MANDATE. THUS, PROOF OF ATTENDANCE, COMPLETION OR PASSAGE SHOULD BE KEPT TO VERIFY ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET.
