Mrs. Lauren (LB) Bernstein, LMSW, I would be definitely interested in a meeting of the minds. I would appreciate being able to learn as well as physically interact from other colleagues around the country concerning best practices. I have a specific goal to create a program to reach men on our campus as well as males in the larger Columbia community. As such, we are kicking off a program called “True Strength”. “True Strength” encourages
men to unite and take an active role against sexual assault and sexual violence. As a part of the program we will provide information about sexual assault and sexual violence and will give males the opportunity to share their experiences or personal stories
of how sexual assault and sexual violence has affected their life or the lives of others who they care about. Additionally, we will show males how to create a safer environment for their mothers, sisters, daughters and others where bystander accountability
is the norm, not the exception. All in all, we will create a forum for men to share new and innovative ideas on the topic of sexual assault and sexual violence. Our program is designed to encourage men to unite and stand up against sexual assault and sexual
violence. Thanks, C. D. Hi all, The Respect Program at Emory University started an annual conference last year called RespectCon. We had a successful conference with attendees from thirteen states last year.
I know that many of us have talked about wanting to create a space for us in our roles working in or directly sexual assault prevention/response programs. This year’s RespectCon will be Fri. April 5th. I’m wondering if there
is interest in having a day-long meeting the day before to bring us all together for a meeting of the minds. I would be very happen to host in Atlanta. If not, perhaps we can start with a smaller skype/google hangout meeting? I just thought I would gauge
interest. Thanks! My best, LB Lauren (LB) Bernstein, LMSW Assistant Director for the Respect Program, Office of Health Promotion Emory University Student Health and Counseling Services, Division of Campus Life Phone: 404-727-1514| Fax: 404-712-1519 |
