The Stalking Resource Center recently interviewed Wendy Cohen, Senior Policy Advisoe, and Cindy Hora, Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Crime Victims Services for the Illinois Attorney General. We discussed Illinois' Stalking No Contact Order. Click here to read more!



Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization and Stalking

The 2013 VAWA Reauthorization made changes and additions in several key areas regarding stalking. These include:
  • Language changes to the Federal Stalking and Cyberstalking laws
  • Amending the Clery Act to add stalking to the list of crimes campuses are required to report crime statistics
    • Several elements were also added to the Annual Security Report which is to be submitted by each institution
  • ​Stalking was added to the list of crimes covered under the U visa program
  • Stalking was added to the purposes and requirements of several grant programs including:
    • STOP Grants
    • Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders (GTEAP)
    • Grants for Legal Assistance for Victims
    • Grants to Support Families in the Justice System
    • Grants for Outreach and Services to Underserved Populations
    • Improving Services for Victims of DV, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking
    • Enhance Training and Services to End Abuse in Later Life
    • CHOOSE Children and Youth Grants
    • Grants to Combat Violent Crimes on Campuses
    • Violence Reduction Practices (SMART)
    • Healthcare System Grants
    • Grants to Indian Tribal Governments
    • Grants to Indian Tribal Coalitions
