Hello wonderful colleagues:
We're currently investigating adding a "chat" function to our website for crisis intervention--especially as research into communication preferences for 18-24 yr old confirm our experience with our Crisis Line's dropping call numbers--college-aged students don't talk on the phone much.
So--we've been in touch with some national SA/IPV organizations that use chat functions to discuss some of the sticky wickets--like confidentiality, protocols for crisis intervention in chat modality, survivor safety, etc., and we've reviewed a few chat products for pilot adoption, and discussed computer safety with our technology professionals. What we haven't done yet is connect to a school that is already using chat to do crisis intervention.
If your school is already using this tool and would be willing to talk about your experience, please send me a message offline, and I'll follow-up.
Thank you so much for your help.
