Substance Abuse and Violence Education Support (SAVES)

Coordinator

 

 

Chief Objective of Position:

 

Serve as the point person with the Division of Student Affairs on substance abuse issues and violence prevention efforts within the senior administration, faculty and staff, students, community leaders, and state alcohol/drug and substance abuse officials. 

 

Develop and implement educational programs for campus on issues related to alcohol and drug use and sexual assualt. Provide support and referral services to student. Supervise the RU Aware program. 

 

Research, prepare and secure grant funding to support and enhance key programmatic areas, and supervise grant administration to ensure results and compliance with grant guidelines.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Knowledge of substance abuse, sexual assault and violence issues in a university setting. Ability to provide training and coordinate peer education program. Demonstrated ability to interpret data and use it in strategic planning. Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, stakeholders and community constituents; the ability to foster collaborative work environment; computer literacy; good judgment.

Must have advanced degree, or training and work experience at a level which equates to an advanced degree, in counseling, social work or related field.  

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Ability to provide clinical services and supervision. 

LPC or LCSW  

2 – 3 years professional experience
