Hi All,
I am writing from Women Make Movies, the non-profit distributor of films by
and about women, to let you know about our **special offer**.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and thanks as always for
supporting independent women filmmakers!
CHALLENGING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN SOUTH ASIA - SPECIAL OFFER
The world watched in horror as the reports came out of New Delhi - a young
woman attacked and raped by five men in public on a bus, later dying of her
massive internal injuries. In India, the stigma associated with rape can be
devastating; nevertheless, tens of thousands have taken to the streets in
protest, forcing a hard look at violence against women and marking a turning
point in how acts of sexual and physical aggression are normally covered up
or ignored. Women throughout South Asia are organizing to make their voices
heard.
Women Make Movies is offering a special 25% discount on the films in our
"Women of South Asia Speak Out" special collection to institutions (K-12,
public libraries and community groups can purchase all titles at the low
price of $89), including a first time discount on 2012 Academy Award Winner
SAVING FACE. These titles can be used to give context to what's happening in
India and Pakistan now and stimulate necessary discussion in classrooms and
communities. This offer is good through February 8, 2013.
