 The VIP Center is charged with addressing the prevention and intervention of
interpersonal violence at the University of Kentucky. This mission includes 
the
creation and implementation of education and prevention strategies that will
increase awareness and responsiveness of the UK community regarding violence.
At the VIP Center, we do what we love and we love what we do. We are looking
for someone committed to social change and violence prevention to join us as a
Leadership and Engagement Specialist.
 
The Leadership and Engagement Specialist is a vital resource for facilitating
and promoting awareness about power-based personal violence including sexual
assault, stalking, and partner violence.  This individual will engage 
students,
staff, and faculty as volunteers, interns, and partners in the Violence
Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center, programs, and services. This role
will supervise unpaid volunteers and interns, coordinate the general VIP 
Center
space, and develop, implement, and assess programs, trainings, and strategies
to engage the campus community in violence prevention efforts. Other
responsibilities include preparing proposals for research and grant
opportunities along with daily administrative duties for the VIP Center.

Job Responsibilities
35% - Engagement, Leadership, and Volunteer Coordination
•           Monitor the VIP Center and UK environment for opportunities for
engagement, as well as implement and assess engagement activities.
•           Plan, promote, implement, and assess VIP Center events to engage
the UK community.
•           Recruit, retain, mentor and supervise volunteers, interns, and
other student leaders.
•           Research and incorporate data regarding engagement,
community-building, volunteer management, marketing, and leadership into VIP
Center strategies and services.
•           Ensure VIP Center space is welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to
campus needs.
Competencies/Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and volunteer
coordination skills; knowledge of relevant marketing and assessment 
strategies;
attention to detail; ability to multi-task
 
25% - Education, Training and Outreach
•           Plan, promote and implement education, training, and outreach to
provide information about power-based personal violence (including sexual
assault, stalking, and partner violence), active bystander intervention, and
VIP Center services. Monitor, assess, and evaluate these efforts and
strategies.
•           Train student leaders, staff, and faculty on preventing and
responding to power-based personal violence.
•           Coordinate outreach services including tabling, events, new 
student
and employee orientation, lectures and announcements.
•           Provide input and support for students, staff, and faculty on
incorporating discussions about power-based personal violence, intervention,
and prevention into their daily interactions, organizations, offices,
departments, syllabi, and curricula.
Competencies/Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation 
skills;
effective public speaking, marketing, volunteer management and event planning
skills

20% - Grant-writing and Administrative Support
•           Assist director in exploring, identifying, and preparing proposals
for research and other grant opportunities to support the mission of the VIP
Center
•           Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the VIP Center 
including
answering phones, maintaining documentation, writing reports, and other 
general
office responsibilities.
Competencies/Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills;
organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to work effectively under
pressure; ability to work well with others
 
10% - Partnership-building
•           Build and maintain partnerships with key individuals and groups on
campus that will enhance VIP Center services and strategies.
•           Create social networking opportunities and activities to connect
individuals and campus organizations with the VIP Center space and services.
Competencies/Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to
work well with others; event planning and marketing skills
 
5% - Advocacy
•           As needed, provide safe space, support, information and referral 
to
students who disclose violence.
Competencies/Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; basic
knowledge of violence issues and campus and community resources
 
5% - Other duties as assigned
•           Contribute to additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
