Preventing Campus Sexual Violence in Virginia: Using a Social Justice Lens to Advance our Work

September 28, 2012

Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center; Roanoke, VA

Sponsored by the Virginia Department of Health and Virginia Tech

Keynote presentation by Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) staff

Conference description

This conference will use a social justice lens to engage participants in preventing campus sexual violence.  Specifically, the conference will provide participants with an opportunity to learn a variety of prevention principles from leaders in the field and encourage participants to apply the knowledge within their communities.  Workshops will focus on prevention work with underrepresented groups on campus, prevention program planning and implementation, and prevention ideas and innovations. Ample time will also be given for networking and idea sharing among participants.

Conference agenda

The agenda is currently being finalized, and we have space for a few more workshops.  If you would like to present a breakout session or would like to suggest and idea or workshop facilitator related to campus sexual violence prevention work with underrepresented or marginalized groups, please contact Jen Underwood ( or 540/231-7806) as soon as possible.

Registration

The registration fee will be $45 and includes breakfast, lunch, and materials.  Scholarships are available.  More information on registration and lodging, including the online registration link and scholarship information, will be sent out shortly.

Please help spread the word by forwarding this announcement within your campuses and agencies, and to others who may be interested in attending.  If you have any questions, please contact Jen Underwood ( or 540/231-7806).

Best,

Jen
