Funding for the U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Center Eliminated

The U.S. Department of Education will not be exercising the option year for the contract to support the Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Violence Prevention (HEC). For almost two decades, the HEC has provided free, expert information, publications, the latest research, technical assistance, and training to the nation's institutions of higher education on effective prevention strategies for alcohol, other drug abuse, and violence-related problems. The Department appreciates the service of the current HEC staff and will work closely with them to complete planned training and products as well as ensure existing HEC materials are made available as resources to the field after September 2, 2012.
