Hello List,

I have just joined the team of “House Devil, Street Angel” as the producer. The director, Fivel Rothberg, made this film in an effort to stop the cycle of abuse in his own family and generate dialogue among other fathers and men.

It’s a deeply personal film seen through Fivel’s point of view. He is an abuse survivor and former abuser. The documentary starts with the birth of his son, Noam, thirteen years ago which forced Fivel to face his abusive childhood, which he repeated with his son’s mother. In Fivel’s own words,

/At its core, the film is about fathers and sons, the strong, loving bond between    us, and the conflict that seems to underscore much of our relationships. The film also takes an intimate look at the legacy of abuse and mental illness in my family. In that sense, it’s a story of recovery and redemption as the men in my family work towards ending the cycle of abuse that has lasted for generations./

What’s unique about this film is its ability to start a dialogue that leads to change. We are working closely with individuals and organizations whose missions are to promote awareness of interpersonal domestic violence and prevent its occurrence. Among others, we are partnering with:

· CONNECT, a non-profit dedicated to the prevention and elimination of family violence (http://www.connectnyc.org/)

· “Voice Male Magazine,” a pro-feminist publication that addresses men's issues (http://voicemalemagazine.org/ )

Nancy Schwartzman is a Project Advisor for “House Devil Street Angel.” She is the founder of the highly successful Line Campaign that is committed to empower young leaders to create a world without sexual violence (http://whereisyourline.org/)

And, we are forming a Leadership Circle of pro-feminist men’s groups to raise awareness of the project. The leadership circle currently includes:

· Harry Brod, Ph.D. http://www.harrybrod.com <http://www.harrybrod.com>

· Robert Heasley, President of the American Men’s Studies Association, http://mensstudies.org/?p=3709

And, we are negotiating with the organization, Men Can Stop Rape (http://www.mencanstoprape.org/), about becoming a project partner as well.

Best,

Sam Feder
