Dear colleague, Mark your calendar! Men Can Stop Rape is now accepting registrations for our next From Theory to Practice Trainings. Register for the Training January 4-6, 2012 Downtown Washington, DC January 18-20, 2012 Manhattan, New York City Both trainings are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Wednesday - Friday. Deadline to register is December 16, 2012 Men Can Stop Rape (MCSR)'s "From Theory to Practice" Training is the most comprehensive training available on engaging men to help end violence against women, and has equipped thousands of professionals and activists in working with men to prevent gender-based violence. Through exploration of theory, interactive group exercises, role-playing, and multi-media presentations, "From Theory to Practice" prepares participants with the skills necessary to motivate men to take a more active role in challenging attitudes and behaviors that support rape and other forms of men's violence against women. This training is for: Victim service providers :: Educators and youth-serving professionals :: College and university personnel :: Peer educators :: Law enforcement :: Military SARCs :: Students and activists And coming soon: Men Can Stop Rape will be offering CEUs for Social Workers! Details later this fall. The training equips the participant with: • A theoretical framework and introduction to social change theory as it relates to preventing men's violence against women • A comprehensive understanding of a broad-based approach to primary prevention and its application • Valuable tactics for public speaking around these issues • Effective strategies for working with and engaging men and boys • The ability to better recognize the intersections between different types of oppressions (i.e. racism, classism, and heterosexism) • Thorough understanding of bystander intervention and how to prepare men and boys to be active bystanders and to engage their peers as well Each training participant will receive: • MCSR's comprehensive training manual which includes a details look at the theory behind engaging men, presentation tools and tips, activities and exercises to use with men, and much more. • Facilitation guide for the "Where Do You Stand?" Bystander Intervention training • Access to a network of professionals in this field • Discounts for our public awareness materials, trainings and workshops Registration Cost: Registration is $600 which includes the full three-day training, breakfast each day, the From Theory to Practice training manual, and the "Where Do You Stand?" facilitation guide. Travel and lodging is not included. Participation is limited to just 25 people per training to ensure a personalized, in-depth experience for each participant.
