Dear Colleagues,

I am wondering if you have a SA advocacy models (or know of any) that do not involve the DOJ grant or an institutionalized advocate position. Our campus is moving from having an advocate to none next year and I have been tasked with presenting three alternatives for a permanent staff position to provide advocacy. I have heard of some places contracting with local community services, but I have also heard that this presents a host of other problems (probably FERPA-related, etc).

I know there are models of faculty and staff volunteers – but here is the kicker: no one wants to organize or be responsible for the management of the volunteers when the grant is over (another obstacle to overcome).

Thanks,

Amy
