ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
MARGARET CUNINGGIM WOMEN'S CENTER
VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY
The Associate Director assists the Director in the day-to-day management
of the Margaret Cuninggim Women's Center, as well as coordinates major
programming events and ongoing programming activities. In addition, the
Associate Director facilitates student leadership development, advises
student groups, and supervises the Program Coordinators.
Basic Qualifications:
- This position requires Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 60 months of relevant experience.
- Candidate must be willing to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends. Must have a firm commitment to diversity and cultural pluralism.
- Master's degree in higher education administration, women's and gender studies, non-profit administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 24 months of professional experience in student affairs, or in organizations primarily focused on women's or gender-related issues, diversity, leadership, or service.
- Experience coordinating programming and services related to women's and gender issues in a higher education setting.
- Outstanding organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and carry out multiple assignments in a timely fashion with minimal direction.
- Demonstrated ability to support individuals in and raise awareness about the intersections of gender, race, sexual orientation, class, ability, faith, and other identities.
- Expertise in creating/conducting presentations, speaking effectively in public, utilizing current technology, and writing.
- Ability to communicate with students, faculty, staff and community members in a manner that promotes dialogue and understanding.
- Experience supervising professional staff.
- Strong collaborative skills.
- Serve on the leadership team of the office, providing guidance and decision-making in the absence of the director.
- Develop and implement goals and objectives for the center, in line with the university's mission.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver campus-wide events related to women's and gender issues. Evaluate ongoing department programs to identify areas where improvements can be made.
- Advise student organizations regarding organization and programming ideas.
- Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff and make appropriate referrals.
- Encourage relevant scholarly dialogue around women's and gender studies.
- Establish learning outcomes for programming and conduct program assessment.
- Represent Margaret Cuninggim Women's Center and the Office of the Dean of Students on University, community, and national committees and boards.
- Maintain membership in professional associations and participate in programs, when feasible, to stay current with new development in the field and share this information with department/divisional personnel.
- Supervise program coordinators and graduate assistant for the Margaret Cuninggim Women's Center.
- Create environment that encourages and supports self-development.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
- This is a full-time position.
- Shift Hours and Days may vary; Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work hours are also required periodically.
- Salary is commensurate with years of education and experience.
- Experience may be substituted for education : Basic qualification requirement on a 2:1 basis (2 years of experience for each year of education required, but not obtained)
