Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your responses. We have decided to explore having one Title IX Coordinator deal with the investigation and legal aspects of cases, and designate a Deputy Title IX Coordinator to assist with education and student support. Since our campus already has begun a serious education/policy/training initiative as a result of our Campus Wide Sexual Assault Teach In this past year, we thought it would be appropriate to have both types of Coordinators.
I will let you all know how it goes!
I have included the responses I received taking out identifying info. Please let me know if you have any questions. I don't think I added the comments that were sent to the entire list.

Thanks again,
Melinda

Counseling centers are one of the few places left where students can tell their story and seek support without triggering the new mandatory investigation (which the Title 9 person will be responsible for). I worry that if anyone connected to CAPS is in charge of these mandatory investigations, that will only add to a potential chilling effect on students willingness to come forward at all, even to CAPS.

Our Title IX coordinator is the Senior
Advisor to the President for Equity and Campus Diversity.   This
position reports directly to the College
President.    We haven’t
named any Deputy Title IX coordinators (yet?).

Our Title IX Coordinator will be our Dean of Students.  He happens also to be an attorney  He's actually the person a student must contact if they want to have some kind of adjudication as well.

it is our Office for Civil Rights taking on the role.

Our Director of Employment Equity in Human Resources serves as the Title IX coordinator.  Our Violence prevention staff does not and has not in the past.

Our EEO Officer holds that position.

Our Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs, who is also the Non-Discrimination Policy Coordinator is our designated Title IX Coordinator; however, we are in the middle of changing up our Sexual Conduct Policy so that our current Sexual Assault Response Coordinator – also the Senior Associate Dean of Students and my supervisor in my sexual assault role – will be the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Sexual Conduct Policies as the Title IX Guidance allows institutions to designate a deputy coordinator as long as it is named as such. At least that’s our understanding.

Our Diversity and Affirmative Action Director serves as our Title IX coordinator.

We are currently making sure to formally designate one Title IX person. I have strongly encouraged them to not have me be this person, as it is not within my capacity to be the administrator for Title IX in addition to my other responsibilities.  I also would be concerned that I would have less of an ability to be an advocate in situations if I was also coordinating the process.
