Date of Appointment: July 1, 2011 

Location: Minnesota State Mankato, Minnesota 

  

 

This position serves the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus population.  Provides direct services to primary and secondary gender violence survivors, serving as a first point of care for referral and advocacy.  Design and implement violence awareness education and prevention/risk reduction measures for the MSU community including but not limited to working with students to coordinate educational programs and coordinating campus-wide trainings about gender violence prevention, risk reduction, services, referrals and response protocol.

 Minimum Qualifications: 

•Earned Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Social Work, Community Counseling, Women's Studies, or other related field.

•Minimum one (1) year experience in Student Affairs and/or gender violence services.

•Knowledge of and experience with sexual and relationship violence-related issues, including support services and prevention/risk-reduction initiatives.

•Training in professional listening, problem-solving, and crisis intervention skills.

•Knowledge of needs of college students and student development theory.

 

 Other Considerations: 

•Experience in Student Affairs on a college or university campus.

•Feminist perspective regarding the intersection of violence and gender.

•Event planning experience and ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and other university constituents.

•Experience in a campus gender violence program.

•Knowledge of contemporary women's and gender issues.

•Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

•Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.

•Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including speaking/presenting.

•Ability to represent the institution, the Women's Center, and the needs of students.

•Proven ability to multi-task and fulfill deadlines under pressure.

•Ability to supervise student staff and volunteers.

•Demonstrated commitment to understanding the intersection of gender, race, economic status, sexual orientation, and other significant aspects of individual or cultural identity.
