Hello, friends in the movement! There are EIGHT designs of bumper stickers on the “Voices of Men” website now – http://www.voicesofmen.org/store.html! Seven of them are teal colored, in honor of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I want to thank three of my friends for three of these designs. Barry Goldstein http://www.domesticviolenceabuseandchildcustody.com is a tireless voice for battered mothers and their children in their struggles against a corrupt family court system. His greatest compliment came from children who called him and his colleagues “Believers” – the sticker thus reads “Believer” in big letters, with the sentence “I believe survivors of sexual violence” below. There’s also a purple version, reading “I believe survivors of domestic and sexual violence.” My fellow Bostonian, Wendy Murphy, has been representing victims of sexual violence for years: http://andjusticeforsome.blogspot.com/. She teaches at the New England School of Law, is an articulate columnist, published author and a frequent contributor to national news networks. She emailed the equation, “Alcohol + Sex = Rape” to a list some years ago – I asked if I could make it into a bumper sticker and she said I could! Mike Domitrz http://www.datesafeproject.org/ is a phenomenal speaker and educator. I love his focus on consent and find his presentation style to be dynamic, funny, engaging and smart. Mike kindly gave me feedback on one of the many sticker designs that feature an equals sign with a line through it, to mean “does not equal.” He thought the sticker, “No (Does Not Equal) Try Harder” would provoke fewer giggles than “No (Does Not Equal) Try Again.” So this year, we made both. Thanks Mike, Wendy and Barry! The “Stop Blaming the Victim” sticker is back in a teal color, with rape myths in the background, mostly obscured by the foreground letters. Thanks to all who suggested sexual violence myths for that background. Other designs are there, new and old. The first 100 people who email my wonderful wife Lucinda at will get two of them for free. Please include your complete mailing address, which two designs you’d like (or two of the same one) and please email Lucinda, not me. Thanks – keep up the great work!
