In support of “The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” Stirring the Fire is participating in Seattle Against Slavery’s “No One Should Be Forced Campaign”.
![]()
Following a recent FBI report that Washington state led the nation in the number of child prostitutes that were recovered as part of a nationwide crackdown on child traffickers and pimps, Seattle Against Slavery announced a unique new multi-language poster campaign empowering victims of human trafficking to self-identify and access help.
At Stirring the Fire we will be distributing the poster throughout our community in Mercer Island and we encourage you to get involved as well! Visit Seattle Against Slavery to learn how you can participate!!!
The hotline listed is a national service, so anyone in the United States can participate. Though you can use the current poster if you are outside of Washington state, you can also contact Seattle Against Slavery to have the poster modified for your state.
Let us know if you will join us to raise awareness about Violence Against Women!
Resources
Have you seen our new “Resource” page packed with scholarships, travel information, and tips on volunteering and studying abroad? The websites listed offer a wealth of information giving you a great starting place for making your global community service intentions a reality.
Connect with Stirring the Fire
As we continually develop Stirring the Fire we openly invite any feedback you have! Do you have a suggestion for the website? Do you know of a program that Stirring the Fire participants should be aware of? Or maybe you or someone you know has volunteered to help empower women and girls? We would love to speak with you!
