Colleagues, I wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming Paving a Rocky Road conference on new and better ways to engage men in colleges and universities, as well as other settings. Men Can Stop Rape is proud and excited to support and be presenting at the conference, as well as sharing that honor with amazing people in the field such as Rachel Griffin and Michael Kimmel, and many others. I think this will be a great opportunity to continue to build the work we do with men to prevent violence against women and sustain healthy masculinity in new ways, so I hope many of you can make it.

Rachel Griffin, Assistant Professor of Speech Communication at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, will be the keynote speaker. Michael Kimmel, who is among the world's leading researchers and writers on men and masculinity, will also be in attendance.

Other speakers include Nancy Schwartzman, Robert Jensen, Joseph Vess & Joseph Samalin, Alejandro Covarrubias and Ben Atherton-Zeman. For a complete list of speakers and workshops, click here.

Panels will include:

On the Road will feature women leaders in the movement, both to frame the conference and men's involvement within the context of the history of the larger movement and model accountability.

Where does the road lead? will explore where the pro-feminist men's movement is, and in what direction we should be moving to maximize effectiveness. So many men agree with specific (pro) feminist ideas, but are resistant to joining the movement.

There are numerous workshops and films that will be previewed at the conference. The schedule is now posted. Register now for a thought provoking and exciting conference at PLU. We look forward to seeing you in October.
