Good afternoon everyone,
I was fortunate enough to receive some great feedback on my last post a
few weeks back regarding best practices for judicial training, so I
thought I might put another question out there. As I mentioned before,
we're working on our training for our Committee on Discipline on the
topic of sexual violence.
I have been connecting with our Director of Student Citizenship to
develop this training (with some great information from this group,
thanks again!). He asked me if I could try to find out about anyone's
experiences working with/alongside a campus disciplinary body, and any
challenges or struggles that they encountered (e.g. members not
understanding the impact of an assault on the survivor, overly
aggressive lines of questioning, etc.). We'd be glad to hear about any
positive moments you had as well.
I understand this may be a sensitive question to ask, and I certainly
do not aim to make you feel like you are divulging private business.
However, I do think this will help us anticipate possible issues and be
prepared to address them. I'm also glad to share a summary of the list's
feedback with anyone who is interested.
Thank you very much for your time — it's reassuring to know that
there are so many wonderful allies working to create change on campus
and in the world at large.
Have a great weekend,
-Greg.
