Development Director
The Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force (SATF) of Oregon is seeking
qualified candidates for the position of Development Director. The Task
Force is a unique, non-governmental, non-profit organization created in
collaboration with former Attorney General Hardy Myers to facilitate and
support a collaborative, victim-centered approach to the prevention of and
response to adolescent and adult sexual violence. The Task Force provides
training and technical assistance, and develops resources on behalf of
professionals who respond to sexual assault. The Task Force prioritizes the
selection of high quality professional staff with expertise in sexual
assault and/or violence against women to accomplish its mission.
Position Summary: The Development Director is responsible, in part, for
providing for the long-term sustainability of the organization. As such, the
Development Director must be willing to develop a solid understanding of the
SATF organization and programs. Efforts to maintain and expand the SATF's
current fundraising efforts will include:
. Government Funding: requesting funding from state and national
government agencies, and managing contracts for funds allotted
. Foundation Grants: researching grant opportunities for SATF
programs; writing letters of inquiry and grant proposals to private and
public foundations; managing contracts and reports for grants received
. Major and Individual Donors: identifying, cultivating and
stewarding relationships with major and individual donors
Activities:
. Develop and articulate the SATF case for support and statement of
fundraising priorities
. Monitor grant solicitations
. Perform research into grant-making organizations
. Consult with the Executive Director and other key staff members
regarding potential grant projects, in an effort to gain a complete
understanding of the program for which funds are being requested
. Write grant applications that display meticulous grammar and
spelling, and comply fully with requirements of funding organization
. Monitor grant applications throughout funding process
. Create and maintain a funding portfolio for each of the SATF's
program areas, including development and maintenance of a fundraising
database
. If requested, submit progress reports to grantors
. Oversee the implementation of annual and long-range plans to
generate restricted and unrestricted annual and major gifts
. Plan, execute and staff statewide SATF fundraising events
Education and Experience
. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a complementary specialization.
. Demonstrated knowledge of grant writing and researching.
. Minimum one year previous development experience.
. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Professional Attributes
. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
. Familiarity with federal grant procedures, and ability to perform
basic accounting and recordkeeping functions.
. A commitment to and understanding of issues of oppression and sexual
violence.
. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, and develop and
maintain relationships with individuals and agencies.
. Creativity, persuasiveness, and a talent for creative
problem-solving.
Salary: This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent position.
Salary commensurate with experience/skills.
