The University of North Carolina Wilmington is searching for appropriate
applicants for a position as a Victim Advocate.
This position will offer crisis response and will work with, and on behalf
of, students who are victims of relationship abuse and violence, stalking,
and sexual assault.
The Victim Advocate will assist with personal, legal, and other types of
advocacy and will work collaboratively with campus partners, local law
enforcement, crisis response and advocacy agencies, and other community
resources to provide support. Responsibilities will include chairing the
Relationship-Violence Sexual Assault Response Team that brings together
front-line responders to insure that policies, protocols, and practices best
serve our students; developing, executing and evaluating a comprehensive
response to stalking; offering educational programs about sexual assault,
relationship abuse and violence, and stalking, based on research, best
practices, and emerging evidence; and advising on campus policies and
emerging legal issues in this arena.
The Victim Advocate serves as a on-call and walk-in crisis responder and a
confidential resource for students.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. Diplomas and degrees must be
received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
N.C. Victim Advocate certification or equivalent.
Experience working with college students or adolescents.
Experience working with law enforcement and court settings.
Experience in crisis response or advocacy work.
Experience with public speaking & program development
Experience working with diverse populations.
Work Hours 8:00 pm - 5:00 pm, on call any hour
